• 1.0 out of 5 stars from Ohio Nelly Bly -- Difficult to use and access; not a good choice for online teaching : This is organized nothing like the handy spiral-bound hard copy. I don't know if there is a product that serves my needs, which is an authorized, up-to-date version of current MLA rules, with examples, but this is not it. My chief complaint of many against this Kindle version is its organization; ideally, it would be organized exactly like the physical copy, but things are hard to find. I work as an online tutor and I had thought this digital version of the MLA handbook would be the perfect solution to finding an example of what MLA should be for my students, but it is so hard to find things that it is useless to me. It would be a good, quick read for students unfamiliar with MLA or someone who does not use it often. It covers the most common formatting issues without added all the miscellaneous formats used for academic settings. it provides enough examples but not too many such that it slows the reading down. I’m on page 10 of an initial reading to consider it for a class I’ll be teaching in the fall, and I’ve noticed a sentence fragment (in one of the example sentences!), a subject-verb agreement error, an unidiomatic verb tense usage, a comma error, two typos, and a couple of errors of style. The book is great for quick reference. While I am writing papers for my M.A. program I can just flip quickly to the page to make sure all the commas and periods are in the correct spots. This book is well organized and allows me to efficiently and quickly find the answers they need in order to make their essay or research paper perfect!
